Day 1 Delhi
Arrive Delhi. Meet and assist upon arrival and transfer to
Intercontinental the Grand/Nikko.
Day 2 Delhi
After breakfast, city tour of Old and New Delhi includes
visit to the Qutab Minar, Red fort, Jama Masjid Mosque,
Chandni chowk market, India Gate and drive past the
President’s Palace.
Day 3 Delhi to Agra
Morning leave for Agra pausing en-route at Sikandara to see
the tomb of Akbar. Afternoon city tour visiting the Taj
Mahal and the fort. Overnight at the Jaypee Palace.
Day 4 Agra to Samode
Drive to Samode visiting en route the deserted city of
Fatehpur Sikri with its forts, palaces and mosques. Continue
to Samode, a small village near Jaipur. Afternoon free to
explore the village, the fort and the restored Mughal
garden. Overnight at the charming Samode Palace.
Day 5 Samode to Jaipur
Morning drive to Jaipur visiting en route Amber. You will
ascend the fort, with its huge ramparts and watchtowers, on
a decorated elephant. Evening dinner in a traditional
setting with folk dances. Overnight at the Mansingh Tower.
Day 6 Jaipur
Morning sightseeing of Jaipur. Visit the City Palace
complex, Museum, Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds), Jantar
Mantar, the largest stone Observatory in the world.
Afternoon free.
Day 7 Jaipur to Kota
Leave for Kota, visiting en route Bundi. Founded in 1342, it
lies well protected within the range of Aravali hills. Visit
the Chatter Mahal, a stunning palace fort. Drive on to Kota
and visit the Madho Singh Museum, which houses a fine
collection of miniature paintings. Overnight at the Umed
Bhavan Palace.
Day 8 Kota to Udaipur
Morning drive to the lake city of Udaipur visiting en route
Chittorgarh to see the spectacular fort, lauded in legends
of valor and chivalry. Visit the Padmani’s Palace, Tower of
Victory and Tower of Fame. Overnight at the Trident Hilton.
Day 9 Udaipur
Udaipur, the city of shimmering lakes and palaces, was
founded by Maharaja Udai Singh in 1567 and is still very
much a traditional Rajput town. Morning city tour visiting
the City Palace complex, museum, impressively carved Jagdish
temple built in 1651 and Saheliyon-ki-Bari (Garden of Maids
of honour). Afternoon free. Optional boat ride on the lake
Pichola.
Day 10 Udaipur to
Jodhpur
Morning drive into the Aravali hills to visit the 15th
Century spectacular Jain temple at Ranakpur, noted for its
outstanding sculpture. Continue on to Jodhpur, the second
largest city of Rajasthan, founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha.
Overnight at the Fortune Umed/Ajit Bhavan Place.
Day 11 Jodhpur to
Jaisalmer
Morning city tour visiting the Mehrangarh Fort that
dominates the city, Jaswant Thada and the magnificent Umaid
Bhavan Palace. Afternoon drive to the ancient city of
Jaisalmer, one of India’s most exotic towns. Overnight at
the Rawalkot/ Rang Mahal.
Day 12 Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer lies in the heart of the desert. Morning tour
visiting the imposing 12th Century Fort and the imposing
Jain temples with intricate and delicate carvings. Evening
visit Sam Sand Dunes. Dinner and cultural program at the
dunes (October – March).
Day 13 Jaisalmer to
Bikaner
After breakfast drive to Bikaner. Afternoon visit the 16th
Century Junagarh Fort with its palaces, mosaic courtyards,
carved balconies and temples. Overnight at the Raj Vilas
Palace.
Day 14 Bikaner to
Mandawa
A safari to Bishnoi village to see lifestyle and culture of
the Bishnoi people in the rural environment before
proceeding to Mandawa in the Shekhavati region. Shekhavati
is renowned for its havelis (traditional houses with
interior courtyards). Overnight at the Mandawa Castle/
Desert Resort.
Day 15 Mandawa to Delhi
Morning tour of Mandawa. Explore the beautiful havelis with
ornately decorated interiors and exteriors in colourful
frescos and paintings depicting lives of the local people in
the 19th Century. Afternoon drive to Delhi. Overnight at the
Radisson Hotel.
Day 16 Depart Delhi
Transfer to the airport for your flight home. |
